Fiat Fullback Brake Feedback

I'm experiencing some strange issues with my 2020 Fiat Fullback diesel. It has about 127000 km on the clock. When I press the brake pedal, I get some very weird feedback. I'm not sure how to describe it. I've checked the brake fluid level, and it seems okay. I'm starting to get a bit worried as I use it for work every day.

Summary of the thread

The 2020 Fiat Fullback was experiencing unusual brake pedal feedback, causing concern for its owner. A suggestion was made that the issue might be related to undervoltage, affecting the ABS and other electronic components of the braking system. The owner confirmed that after visiting a workshop, the problem was indeed due to a failing battery, which was replaced, resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar problem with my old Peugeot a while back, though it wasn't quite the same model. The odd feedback from the brake pedal sounds like it could be related to undervoltage. Have you checked the battery and alternator? Low voltage can cause all sorts of weird issues with the hydraulic brakes system, especially the ABS and other electronic components.

Undervoltage, you say? That's interesting. I wouldn't have thought of that. How exactly does undervoltage affect the brakes? And what kind of Peugeot did you have?

Yeah, it was a real head-scratcher for me too at the time. I had a 308. Basically, with undervoltage, the ABS module doesn't get enough power to function correctly, which can mess with the brake assist and other systems. It can cause the pedal to feel spongy or give weird feedback. If it is this, there's not much you can do by yourself and it's best to go to a workshop.

Thank you so much for the advice! I really appreciate it. I took it to the shop, and you were right. It was indeed an undervoltage issue affecting the braking system. Turns out the battery was on its way out. New battery and a check of the brake shoes, and all is well. Cost me 240€, but at least it's sorted.
