Fiat Idea brake light failure

I'm having a strange issue with my 2004 Fiat Idea, diesel engine. I keep getting a brake light failure warning on the dash, and the brake lights sometimes don't work. The error memory also stores a fault related to the brake light switch. I've checked the bulbs, and they seem fine. Could this genuinely be a faulty brake light switch, or is there something else I should be looking at?

I had something similar happen with my Idea. The error message was driving me crazy. Did you check the position of the switch on the brake pedal? It might be misadjusted.

Yes, I meant that it's not making proper contact. But it also could be loose. I think, you should visit a workshop.

You were spot on! Turns out the brake light switch was slightly out of position. I was able to adjust it myself. Now everything is working as expected, no more errors, and brake lights are functioning properly! Cost me 0€ Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
