Fiat Idea brake light failure
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Fiat Idea was experiencing a brake light failure warning, with brake lights sometimes not functioning. The issue was traced to a fault related to the brake light switch. It was suggested that the switch might be misadjusted or loose, affecting contact with the brake pedal. Adjusting the switch resolved the problem, restoring proper brake light function and eliminating the error warning.

Thanks for the reply! By misadjusted, do you mean it's not making proper contact when the pedal is pressed, or that the switch itself is loose?

Yes, I meant that it's not making proper contact. But it also could be loose. I think, you should visit a workshop.

You were spot on! Turns out the brake light switch was slightly out of position. I was able to adjust it myself. Now everything is working as expected, no more errors, and brake lights are functioning properly! Cost me 0€ Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I had something similar happen with my Idea. The error message was driving me crazy. Did you check the position of the switch on the brake pedal? It might be misadjusted.
