Fiat Idea Camshaft Sensor Defective
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Fiat Idea diesel was experiencing starting difficulties and power loss, with an error indicating a defective camshaft sensor. Initial checks of the wiring and plug appeared fine, but the issue persisted. A suggestion was made to consider the crankshaft sensor as a potential cause. Ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be a defective camshaft sensor due to a bad cable connection, which was resolved by a workshop.

Interesting, thanks for the hint! I focused on the camshaft sensor because the error code pointed to it. Where was the crankshaft sensor located in your Astra, and how did you diagnose it?

On the Astra, it was near the crankshaft pulley. I didn't diagnose it myself, to be honest. After some fiddling, I took it to a workshop. Maybe better if you do that as well and avoid further damage.

Turns out it was a defective camshaft sensor due to a bad cable connection. The workshop confirmed it. 95€ later and it runs like new again! Thanks for the advice anyway!

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my old Opel Astra, also diesel. Turned out to be a faulty crankshaft sensor. Have you checked that one too? Although it's usually linked to rough idling or timing issues...
