Fiat Idea Diesel Fuel Filter Heater Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Fiat Idea diesel is experiencing reduced engine power, poor response, higher fuel consumption, and uneven idling, with an error stored in the memory. The suspected cause is a problem with the fuel filter heater, possibly due to a defective cable or plug connection. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a damaged wire in the connector. The solution involved taking the car to a workshop, where a faulty wire was identified and repaired, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the quick response! I've visually inspected the connectors and didn't notice any obvious corrosion. I'll check again thoroughly. Did your Doblo throw any specific error codes related to the fuel system?

Yeah, it did! Something about the fuel heater circuit being open or shorted. Can't remember the exact code now, it was a while back. Honestly, after fiddling for an afternoon, I just took it to a workshop. Turned out to be a damaged wire. Might be worth considering if you can't spot anything obvious.

Thanks a lot for the advice and sharing your experience! I double-checked everything and still couldn't find the issue. Bit the bullet and took it to a workshop and you were right - turns out it was a faulty wire in the connector. 95€ later and it's running like a charm. Appreciate the help!

Hey! Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my Fiat Doblo. Same symptoms – felt like it was struggling to breathe, and the fuel consumption was way up. I'd definitely check those connections like you're thinking. It could save you a lot of hassle. Did you check for obvious corrosion?
