Spark plugs were changed about 20.000 km ago. How did you resolve the rich running issue with your Saab?

In my case, it turned out to be faulty fuel injectors. After replacement, the problem was gone. Given your symptoms and mileage, I'd suggest visiting a reliable workshop to get your injectors properly inspected. It might be the most sensible thing to do.

Thanks! I took it to the workshop, and they confirmed that the fuel injectors were defective. The repair set me back 515€, but the car is running smoothly again!

I had a similar issue with my old Saab, although it was a petrol engine. The symptoms sound eerily familiar. I would check the fuel injectors first. When did you last change your spark plugs?
