Fiat Idea oil pressure warning light
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Fiat Idea diesel exhibited an oil pressure warning light, despite the oil level appearing normal. The issue was likely due to overdue maintenance, specifically an oil and filter change. Old oil can lose its lubricating properties, causing warning lights to activate. After taking the car to a workshop for an oil and filter change, the warning lights were resolved.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't noticed any major changes in engine sound, just the lights. The last oil change... hmm, I honestly can't remember. Could that really be the issue, even with the level being okay?

Yep, definitely sounds like maintenance is overdue. Think of it like this: even if you have enough water in a fish tank, if the filter is clogged, the fish are gonna suffer. Old oil gets contaminated and loses its lubricating properties, even if the level seems fine. With those warning lights, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They can check the oil pressure properly and see if there's any lasting damage. It is also good idea to get a new oil filter.

Okay, I understand. Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. The oil change was overdue. They changed the oil and filter, and the lights are gone. The bill came to 165€. Lesson learned!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Idea. Oil pressure problems can be tricky. Have you noticed any change in the engine's sound or performance? When was the last time you changed the oil and filter? It might sound obvious, but old oil can cause all sorts of havoc, kinda like how old blood thickens and causes problems in the body.
