Fiat Linea AC Compressor Issue

My 2007 Fiat Linea diesel's A/C isn't working. The compressor won't engage, and I found an error code, possibly undervoltage. Could it be a relay or the pressure sensor? Has anyone had this?

Summary of the thread

The 2007 Fiat Linea diesel's A/C compressor issue was identified as not engaging due to an undervoltage error code. Possible causes included a faulty relay or pressure sensor. A similar problem in an Opel Corsa was resolved by replacing a faulty pressure switch, suggesting a potential solution. Ultimately, a technician confirmed the undervoltage issue in the Fiat Linea, leading to a successful repair involving component replacement and A/C system recharging.

I had a similar problem with my Opel Corsa. Symptoms sound identical - A/C not working and an error code stored in the memory. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty pressure switch. This switch is a safety device that prevents the AC compressor from running if the refrigerant pressure is too low or too high. Check that your refrigerant level is OK and then have the pressure switch checked.

Thanks for the suggestion. How do I check the refrigerant level and pressure switch? What tools are needed? Also, where's the pressure switch located in the Opel Corsa? Maybe it's similar in my car.

Checking the refrigerant level accurately requires specialized equipment. The pressure switch location can vary, but it's usually screwed into a refrigerant line, often near the condenser. It's best to consult a qualified technician who can properly diagnose the problem. They can use a diagnostic tool to test the pressure switch. Best to avoid tampering with AC systems yourself, as refrigerant leaks are bad for the environment. For my Opel, it turned out to be exactly as I mentioned above and I spent 210€ at the workshop to fix it. I'd advise against self-repairs on A/C systems.

Thanks for the advice. I took my Fiat Linea to a technician. They confirmed undervoltage, which caused the A/C compressor to shut off. The repair cost 240€, including replacing a faulty component and recharging the A/C system. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction; without your help, I may have wasted time and resources on unnecessary repairs.
