Fiat Linea Door Lock Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Fiat Linea owner experienced a problem where none of the doors would lock or unlock, either with the key fob or manually. After checking the fuses, which were fine, the issue was suspected to be related to a faulty door contact signal. A suggestion was made to inspect the wiring harness in the rubber boot between the door and the car body, where wires can break due to flexing. The problem was resolved by replacing a broken wire in that area, restoring the door lock functionality.

The car alarm seems normal. I haven't actually checked the wiring harness thoroughly yet, just given it a quick visual inspection. Where exactly should I be looking for the break, and what is the role of the door sensor in this? Is it just corrosion on the plug connection?

In my Opel, the break was in the rubber boot between the door and the car body – that's where the wires flex every time you open and close the door. I guess for your Fiat, the door sensor may signal an open door even when the latch is closed. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop.

Thanks! Turns out it was indeed a broken wire in that rubber boot you mentioned. A mechanic replaced the damaged section of the wiring harness. Cost me 95€, but at least it's fixed now.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. The central locking system went haywire. Have you checked the wiring harness where it enters the door? Those wires can fatigue and break over time. What about the car alarm, is it working normally?
