Fiat Marea Mixture Prep Error
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Fiat Marea diesel exhibited a mixture prep error, resulting in reduced power, rough running, and stalling. Initial suspicions pointed to a faulty injector, despite normal oxygen sensor readings and a cleaned MAF sensor. Further diagnostics confirmed a defective injector, leading to the replacement of all four injectors, resolving the issue.

O2 sensor readings seem normal, and I cleaned the MAF sensor a while back. No other codes are showing up. Could a slightly leaky injector cause all these symptoms, even with seemingly normal sensor data?

While O2 sensor readings might appear within range, a slightly defective injector could indeed disrupt the mixture enough to trigger the error, especially under varying loads. Given the mileage (198092 km), injector wear is plausible. Further diagnostics at a workshop, focusing on individual injector performance, are advisable.

Right, suspected as much. Thanks for the confirmation. Ended up being a faulty injector, replaced all four. Cost me 515€ but she's running smooth again.

A rich mixture error on that engine could stem from several issues. Have you checked the oxygen sensor readings? A faulty MAF sensor could also cause such problems by providing incorrect air flow data to the ECU, leading to an incorrect air-fuel ratio. Are there any other fault codes present besides the mixture error?
