Fiat Mobi IAT Sensor Issue

I've got a 2016 Fiat Mobi with a gasoline engine and about 227k km on the clock. Recently, the check engine light popped up, and the engine feels noticeably weaker. I ran a diagnostic tool, and it's showing an error related to the intake air temperature sensor. The engine also runs a bit rough. Is it likely just a defective IAT sensor?

Summary of the thread

A 2016 Fiat Mobi with a gasoline engine exhibited a check engine light and reduced engine performance, diagnosed as an intake air temperature (IAT) sensor issue. The error code P0113 indicated a high input signal from the IAT sensor, suggesting a fault. The recommended solution was to consult a workshop for proper diagnosis and replacement of the sensor, which resolved the issue and restored engine performance.

I had a similar issue with my Mobi. The symptoms you describe sound very familiar. Have you checked the temperature reading from the IAT sensor using your diagnostic tool? An implausible reading, especially compared to the ambient temperature, would strongly suggest a faulty sensor. Also, what error code specifically is being reported?

Yes, the reading does seem off compared to the ambient temperature. The error code is P0113. Is this the same problem you had? Should I try replacing the sensor myself or take it to a workshop?

P0113 confirms the high input signal from the IAT sensor, highly indicative of a fault. While replacing the sensor yourself is feasible, given the potential impact on engine performance if not done correctly, I would suggest consulting a qualified workshop. They can verify the sensor's functionality and ensure proper installation and calibration. It might save you from further complications.

Thanks for the input. I took it to a workshop. Turns out the IAT sensor was indeed defective. The repair cost 155€. Engine runs fine now.
