Fiat Novo Overheating Air Flap Fault

Hey, I've got a 2015 Fiat Novo with a gasoline engine that's acting up. The check engine light is on, and the engine seems to be overheating. It's got about 64k kilometers on it. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Fiat Novo with a gasoline engine is experiencing overheating and a check engine light, with a diagnostic scan indicating an active air flap fault. The issue is likely due to a defective air flap motor, which controls airflow to the engine. Repairing the faulty air flap motor resolved the problem.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my 2018 Opel Insignia. Check engine light, overheating... fun times! Did you get any fault codes read when the light came on? Could be related to the active air flaps. Is the car's performance impacted?

Yeah, I got a diagnostic scan, and it pointed to an active air flap fault. What exactly does that mean and what am I looking at?

Ah, bingo! On my Insignia, the flap motor was defective. Those flaps control airflow to the engine, and if they're stuck, it can cause overheating. I'd say it's worth taking it to a workshop to have them check the electromechanism.

Thanks for the insight! I took it to the shop, and you were right – faulty air flap motor. Repair came out to 590€. Appreciate the help!
