Fiat Novo steering issue
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Fiat Novo is experiencing steering issues, including vibration, spongy handling, and increased steering effort, accompanied by an error code. The problem is likely related to the power steering system, potentially caused by a defective cable or plug connection. It is recommended to have the vehicle checked at a workshop for a proper diagnosis and repair, which may involve replacing the faulty connection.

Yes, that's exactly it! Vague and unresponsive. Plus, it's definitely harder to turn than usual, especially at low speeds. Anything else I should check before taking it in?

Given that it feels heavier and less responsive, it does sound like a power steering issue. The error code confirms something is amiss. The most likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection. To be on the safe side, consider taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. I went through the same process, and they confirmed that the connection to the sensor was faulty. The total cost was around 95€.

Thanks a lot for the info, I appreciate it; I'll get it checked at the workshop. Looks like a defective cable or plug connection indeed. The repair cost to replace the cable was 95€ as you predicted.

I had a similar problem with my Fiat Novo a while back. By 'spongy handling', do you mean that the steering feels vague and unresponsive, especially at higher speeds? If so, it could indeed be related to the power steering system. Another thing to look for is whether the steering feels heavier than usual, particularly when parking or making sharp turns.
