Fiat Novo transmission oil sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Fiat Novo owner experienced issues with the engine light, emergency mode activation, rough shifting, and grinding noises, linked to a transmission oil temperature sensor error. The problem was suspected to be related to low transmission oil levels affecting sensor readings. It was advised to check and possibly correct the oil level and replace the faulty sensor. The owner confirmed that addressing these issues at a local shop resolved the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! That's a good point. Where exactly would I check the transmission oil level on this model?

The transmission oil level check on the Novo's automatic transmission can be somewhat complex without the correct tools. It is advisable to take your vehicle to a qualified workshop. The expenses related to the repair, which might require replacing the oil sensor and an oil change, should be in the neighborhood of 365€.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on – the oil level was low, and the sensor was faulty. Got it all sorted for about that price you mentioned.

Greetings. I have experienced similar symptoms in my Novo, albeit without the grinding noises. The issues with the emergency mode and unclean shifting suggest the sensor reading may be affected by the transmission oil level. It might be prudent to verify if the gearbox oil level is within the acceptable range.
