Fiat Petra Oxygen Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Fiat Petra is experiencing issues with the check engine light and increased fuel consumption, linked to a potential oxygen sensor problem. The sensor itself shows no visible damage, but there may be a defect in the cable or plug connection. A similar case was resolved by replacing the sensor and fixing a faulty connector, suggesting professional inspection and repair as the best course of action.

Thanks! When you say you had similar symptoms, was it also the oxygen sensor heater failure? And how did you end up fixing it? I'm not super handy with cars, so any extra details would be great!

Yeah, it was the oxygen sensor heater. I tried fiddling with the wiring, but in the end, I took it to a workshop. They replaced the sensor and fixed a dodgy connector. Cost me about 95€ all in. Best bet is to get it checked out professionally; exhaust systems can be tricky like trying to navigate a maze blindfolded.

Thanks so much for the advice! I'll book it in at a workshop then. Hopefully, it's just a faulty sensor and nothing more serious. I appreciate the help!

That sounds familiar! I have a Petra too, and I had similar symptoms a while back – check engine light, higher fuel consumption. For me, it was also related to the oxygen sensor. Have you checked the wiring and connectors thoroughly? Sometimes, a loose connection can cause all sorts of problems, kind of like a loose wire on a lamp.
