Fiat Scudo Incorrect Fuel Composition Error

I'm writing about my 2007 Fiat Scudo with a gasoline engine. It has 234926 km on it. The check engine light comes on and off, and the engine stalls at idle. The error code says it's an incorrect fuel composition. I think it might be a bad cable or plug on the fuel composition sensor. Has anyone seen this before and know how to fix it?

Summary of the thread

The 2007 Fiat Scudo experienced a check engine light and engine stalling at idle, with an error code indicating incorrect fuel composition. The initial suspicion was a bad cable or plug on the fuel composition sensor. After consulting a technician, it was confirmed that the issue was a bad connection in the fuel composition sensor circuit, which was resolved by cleaning and securing the connection. The vehicle is now running normally.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Whoa, that sounds rough! Incorrect fuel composition...yikes. First off, when you say 'incorrect fuel composition,' does that mean you accidentally put the wrong fuel in the tank, like diesel instead of gasoline? Or is it something more subtle? Also, have you checked the fuel filter lately? A clogged filter can sometimes mess with the fuel pressure and cause weird readings. Just throwing out some ideas!

Thanks! To clarify, I didn't put the wrong fuel in. The error is about the fuel-air mixture, even though the fuel is the right octane. The fuel filter was changed about 10,000 kilometers ago. Could a partially blocked injector cause this?

Ah, okay, thanks for clarifying! No wrong fuel, got it. And relatively new fuel filter. Hmmm... A partially blocked injector could possibly cause that kind of issue, I guess. But honestly, with the check engine light and stalling, plus the error code, it sounds like something a bit beyond my limited abilities. I'd probably take it to a workshop and get it checked properly before you end up causing more damage. It's probably something relatively simple, but those fuel systems are pretty sensitive!

I took your advice and saw a technician. It was a bad connection in the fuel composition sensor circuit, like I thought. They cleaned and secured the connection, and it cost 95€. It's running normally now. Thanks again!
