Fiat Scudo Jerking Acceleration
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Fiat Scudo diesel with 98,000 km was experiencing jerking during acceleration, a check engine light, power loss, stalling at idle, rough running, and a strong exhaust smell. The error code pointed to an issue with the intake manifold. A vacuum leak in the intake manifold was identified as the cause, confirmed by a mechanic using smoke testing. Repairing the intake manifold resolved the issues, restoring smooth operation.

The error code does point to the intake manifold. How did you figure out it was the manifold itself? Was it obvious?

Initially, no. But the mechanic used some smoke to find the vacuum leak around the intake manifold gasket. Said it was common for them to get scorched and leak. Best get it checked out properly at a workshop.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Intake manifold was leaking due to scorching. Repair cost me 1180€, but it's running smoothly again.

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms on my old Opel Astra after 140k km. Check engine light, loss of power, rough running - turned out to be a vacuum leak in the intake manifold. Is the error code pointing to anything specific related to the intake?
