Fiat Strada Fuel Consumption and Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Fiat Strada with a gasoline engine is experiencing higher fuel consumption, reduced engine power, stalling at idle, and smoke during acceleration. The problem was traced to a defective cable connection in the fuel injection system. Fixing this connection resolved the issues, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Thanks for the tip! Which cable and plug connections exactly? Are there any specific ones that are more prone to issues?

For me, it was one of the connectors going to the injectors themselves. It was a pain to get to, but once I wiggled it, the engine smoothed out. But I would suggest not to struggle too much and give it to a workshop. It's just that the symptoms sound very familiar to me.

You were spot on! Took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a defective cable connection in the injection system, as you suspected. Cost me 95€ to fix. Runs like new now. Thanks a bunch!

Strada owner here! Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with mine. Have you checked the cable and plug connections for the fuel injection system? It's like a loose garden hose – if the connection isn't tight, you'll lose pressure and things won't run right. Is it possibly related to that?
