Summary of the thread
A 2023 Fiat Talento owner experienced a persistent check engine light, primarily during highway cruising, accompanied by rough engine performance. The issue was suspected to be related to a faulty air valve or a defective hose connection. It was advised to avoid self-repair due to potential risks and instead consult a professional. Thanks for the quick reply! The light seems to come on mostly when I'm cruising on the highway, not really when I'm accelerating or slowing down. Does that information help narrow it down? Is there anything I can check myself, or am I just asking for trouble if I start poking around?

Based on your description and the additional detail regarding highway cruising, it appears increasingly probable that a defective hose connection from the pump to the air valve is the cause. Given your self-professed lack of expertise, I must strongly advise against attempting any repairs yourself. You risk exacerbating the issue, or causing further damage. I recommend consulting a qualified workshop as a faulty air valve or associated components could lead to engine stalling or further complications. I estimate the repair cost to be approximately 175€. Proceed with caution.

Okay, thanks so much for the advice! I took your advice and brought it into the shop. Turns out, like you said, it was a hose connection. They replaced it and the check engine light is gone! The final bill was right around 175€. You were spot on!

Greetings. Considering the symptoms you describe, and the mileage on your 2023 Fiat Talento, it is plausible that the air valve is the source of the problem. Given the check engine light illumination and rough engine running, it's advisable to investigate potential vacuum leaks. Could you provide more details on when the check engine light illuminates – does it occur specifically under certain driving conditions, such as acceleration or deceleration?
