Fiat Talento MAP Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Fiat Talento with a diesel engine is experiencing a check engine light, reduced power, poor engine response, and increased fuel consumption. The suspected cause is a faulty manifold pressure (MAP) sensor, potentially due to a vacuum leak. It is advised to inspect and possibly replace the MAP sensor and vacuum lines to resolve these issues.

Thank you for your input. No, the sensor has not been replaced recently. Could a faulty MAP sensor cause a persistent check engine light and the specific performance issues I am experiencing?

Yes, absolutely. A faulty MAP sensor will definitely trigger the check engine light and mess with your engine's air/fuel mixture, leading to reduced power and poor fuel economy. Because you suspect vacuum leakage, I think the best thing you could do is to visit a local workshop for sensor replacement.

I appreciate the advice. I will have the MAP sensor and vacuum lines inspected and likely replaced. It is useful to know that this failure mode is likely. The repair ended up costing 235€. Thank you for your assistance.

I had similar symptoms in my old van. Check the MAP sensor and the vacuum lines connected to it. A leak there can cause all sorts of problems with engine performance. Has the sensor been replaced recently?
