Fiat Tipo AC Compressor Shutdown

My 2019 Fiat Tipo with a gasoline engine (249291 km) has an A/C compressor that keeps shutting off. The A/C doesn't switch on and isn't cooling. I scanned for errors and found something stored. I'm suspecting undervoltage. Anyone else experience this? Could it be the pressure sensor, belt tensioner, or a faulty AC relay? Checked the AC relay, seemed fine. Anything else to check before replacing parts?

Summary of the thread

The 2019 Fiat Tipo's A/C compressor was shutting off, suspected to be due to undervoltage. Possible causes considered included the pressure sensor, belt tensioner, or a faulty AC relay. After checking the relay and fuses, it was suggested to inspect the wiring and connectors for damage or corrosion. Ultimately, a workshop diagnosed the issue as a bad ground connection and a corroded connector, which were repaired to resolve the problem.

I understand you're experiencing A/C issues with your Fiat Tipo. The symptoms point to a potential electrical issue. You mentioned checking the AC relay. Did you confirm its functionality with a multimeter? Have you inspected the wiring harness and connectors associated with the A/C compressor and the pressure sensor for corrosion or damage? Have you checked the relevant A/C system fuses?

Thanks for the quick response. I checked the AC relay visually, not with a multimeter. I gave the wiring and connectors a quick look, but nothing stood out. Fuses were checked, all good. Should I be looking for something specific with the wiring? Could a slightly loose connection cause this intermittent shutdown, or would it be a more permanent failure?

Thanks for the info. While a visual inspection can reveal damage, a multimeter test is essential to verify the relay's function. A loose connection can cause intermittent issues, but the undervoltage might be a safety measure shutting down the compressor. Given the symptoms, stored error codes, and mileage, it may be best to consult a workshop to diagnose the undervoltage and inspect the A/C system. They'll have the tools to pinpoint the problem, which could save you money.

Thanks. I took it to the workshop as suggested. It was undervoltage. They found a bad ground connection and a corroded connector. Repair cost was 240€. Appreciate the help!
