Fiat Tipo Hissing Noise Power Loss

I'm having trouble with my 2023 Fiat Tipo diesel. The check engine light comes on and off, and the engine power is noticeably reduced. Plus, there's a whistling noise that turns into a loud hissing when I accelerate. It has 36634 km on it. The diagnostic check says there's an error with the charge air temperature sensor. I'm thinking it might be a bad cable or plug. Has anyone else had this?

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Fiat Tipo diesel is experiencing a check engine light, reduced engine power, and a whistling noise that turns into a loud hissing during acceleration. The diagnostic check indicates an error with the charge air temperature sensor, suggesting a potential issue with a bad cable or plug. The recommended solution is to have a professional check the sensor's wiring and connections, which ultimately resolved the problem by fixing a loose connection.

I had something similar with my 2018 Opel Insignia. Same deal: check engine light, power loss, weird noises. The error code pointed to the air intake temperature sensor. You should check the sensor's wiring and connections really well. Does the hissing sound stay the same, or does it change with how hard the engine is working?

The hissing gets louder as the engine works harder, especially when I'm accelerating a lot. Since you had this with your Opel, do you think I should try to fix it myself, or should I take it to a professional?

With those symptoms, and how easy it is to get the wrong diagnosis, I wouldn't try a DIY fix yet. My issue ended up being more complicated than I thought and needed special tools. Better to take the Fiat to a good workshop to get it checked out properly. It should be a quick fix.

Got it. Thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and it was a loose connection, just like we thought. The repair, including checking the sensor and fixing the connection, was 95€. It's running like new now.
