Fiat Tipo key battery warning
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Fiat Tipo owner reported a 'key battery low' warning on the dashboard, leading to keyless access issues and an error code. The problem was identified as a low battery in the key fob. It was suggested to replace the key fob battery, which is generally straightforward but can be done at a workshop if preferred. After replacing the battery, the issues were resolved, and the keyless access functioned correctly again.

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't replaced the battery in the key fob yet. Is it something easy to do myself, or am I better off taking it to a workshop?

While replacing the key fob battery is generally straightforward, and tutorials can be found online, proceeding with caution is advised. If you're uncomfortable disassembling the key fob, it's prudent to consult a professional. Incorrect handling could potentially damage the key. Given the circumstances, I'd recommend visiting a qualified workshop to ensure the battery replacement is executed correctly and to verify that no other underlying issues exist.

Thanks for the advice. I went to a local workshop, and it turned out that it was just the key fob battery as suspected. Replacing the battery cost me 37€. Now everything works again perfectly.

Greetings. It seems you are encountering a common issue. I recall experiencing something similar with my previous vehicle, where a 'low battery' message indicated a problem with the key fob rather than the car battery itself. The symptoms you described, specifically regarding keyless entry malfunction and error codes, strongly suggest the fob battery is indeed the culprit. Have you tried replacing the battery in the key fob?
