Fiat Tipo Transmission Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Fiat Tipo hybrid with 90,000 km experienced transmission issues, including an engine warning light, transmission warning, emergency mode activation, and gearbox slipping with grinding noises. The error memory indicated a transmission oil pressure sensor fault, potentially caused by low oil levels. It was advised to check the gearbox oil level, as low oil can lead to sensor damage. The issue was resolved by refilling the oil and replacing the damaged sensor, which eliminated the problem.

Thanks for the reply! I haven't checked the oil level myself. I'm not really sure how to do it safely. Is it something easy to do at home, or would you recommend taking it to a mechanic?

Okay, if you're not comfortable checking it yourself, I'd recommend getting it checked out by a pro. The transmission is sensitive, and you don't want to mess anything up further. In my case, the oil level was indeed low. A friend at the workshop filled it up, and the problem disappeared completely! The sensor might be damaged due to the lack of pressure, so better let them check it out before you buy a new one!

Thanks a lot for the advice! I booked it in at a local garage. The gearbox oil level was too low, and the sensor had to be replaced due to consequential damage. It cost me 365€.

Hey, that sounds rough! I had similar symptoms on my Fiat Tipo a while back. The error codes also pointed towards the pressure sensor. Did you check the gearbox oil level? I've heard that's a common culprit. Let me know!
