Fiesta Airbag Warning Lamp

Airbag warning lamp keeps lighting up on the speedometer of my 2016 Ford Fiesta, gasoline engine. I've checked fuses, visually inspected wiring under the seats, but no luck. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone else experienced this? Mileage at 214490 km.

I had a similar issue with my Fiesta. Before you start tearing everything apart, have you checked the airbag sensor connections? Sometimes, a little corrosion can cause havoc. Though with that mileage, it could also be the clock spring going bad. Any recent work done near the steering wheel or any incidents that might have jostled the system?

Thanks for the quick reply! No recent work on the steering wheel and no incidents at all, just normal driving. Where exactly are those airbag sensor connections located? Is it something I can easily check myself, or am I better off taking it to a workshop?

The primary airbag sensor connections are typically located under the seats and in the steering column. Given the potential dangers associated with the airbag system, including unexpected airbag deployment, I would strongly advise against attempting any repairs yourself unless you have experience with automotive electrical systems and SRS components. A diagnostic scan at a reputable workshop is highly recommended to pinpoint the exact fault code. The cost for me was about 95€.

Appreciate the advice! I was hoping to avoid the workshop, but you're right, messing with the airbag system could be risky. I'll get it booked in for a proper diagnosis. It was a defective cable, as suspected. Cost me 95€ as you said. Thanks again!
