A leak, huh? So the sensor itself was fine? How did you pinpoint the leak?

Yeah, the sensor was actually okay. The garage used some kind of smoke test to find the tiny hole in the exhaust pipe. The mechanic said even a small leak can throw off the sensor readings. I'd take it to a workshop to get it checked properly. It’s frustrating, I know!

Thanks! Appreciate the advice. It was indeed a leak near the exhaust temperature sensor! Sensor replaced and the leak fixed, all for 265€. Runs like new again!

Dude, I had something similar happen with my old Peugeot 308! Same symptoms: check engine light, power loss, and drinking fuel like crazy. Turned out to be a leak in the exhaust system messing with the readings from the exhaust sensor. Exhaust sensors measure the temperature of the exhaust gases to ensure optimal engine management. They are exhaust components so any leaks will change temperature fluctuation readings. Worth checking!
