Fiesta engine wont start

Hi, my 2005 Ford Fiesta with a gasoline engine won't start. It's got 86163 km on the clock. I suspect it might be an ECU issue. I've checked the cable connections of the battery, and they don't look great. Any ideas?

Hey, I had something similar happen with my Fiesta. It turned out to be a faulty connection to the battery. The car would crank, but not fire up. Double-check the terminals are clean and tight. Has the car been standing for a while? Sometimes that causes the connections to corrode.

Thanks for the quick response! So, you think it is related to the battery? Did you experience any other electrical issues before it completely failed to start? I was thinking that it would be ECU failure.

Yeah, in my case, it was definitely battery-related. No other electrical issues beforehand, just one morning it wouldn't start. I'd get it checked by a workshop, they will tell you if it is the ECU. They can diagnose the problem quickly.

I took it to a mechanic, and you were spot on! It was indeed a loose connection and corrosion on the battery terminals. Cleaned them up and tightened everything, and it fired right up. Cost me 155€, but better than a new ECU! Thanks for the help!
