Figo oxygen sensor heater failure

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2011 Ford Figo, gasoline version. The check engine light came on, and after scanning, it shows an oxygen sensor heater failure. The car has 176714 km on the clock. I've also noticed higher fuel consumption. I've checked the wiring and plug connection to the sensor. Couldn't see anything obvious like broken or corroded wires. Could a faulty connection really be the problem, or am I missing something?

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Figo. Same symptoms, check engine light and all. Did you actually test the sensor itself, or just look at the wires?

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't tested the sensor itself with a multimeter, I don't have one. I just did a visual inspection of the cable and plug. Is there a specific test I should be doing? I'm thinking about just replacing the O2 sensor. Is that smart?

Yeah, could be the sensor, could be wiring. I'd just take it to a workshop and have them diagnose it properly. Save yourself the headache and potential cost of replacing the wrong thing. Cost me 95€ in the end.

Alright, thanks for the advice. Sounds like the most sensible approach. I was hoping to avoid a trip to the workshop, but I guess it's the best way to be sure. I'll get it checked out. I'm betting on a defective cable or plug connection, so hopefully it won't cost me too much!
