Fiorino ABS Fault Lateral Acceleration Sensor
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Fiat Fiorino is experiencing intermittent ABS failure, with a diagnostic scan indicating a fault in the lateral acceleration sensor. This sensor is crucial for stability and traction control, and while a defective control unit could be the cause, it's less likely that the yaw rate sensor is involved if not flagged by diagnostics. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected and repaired at a workshop, as the issue may require replacing the control unit.

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't checked the yaw rate sensor specifically, but the diagnostic tool indicated the lateral acceleration sensor was the primary fault. Could the yaw rate sensor also be part of the problem, causing the lateral acceleration sensor to throw an error?

It's possible, but less likely if the diagnostic specifically flags the lateral acceleration sensor. Given the symptoms and error code, a defective control unit affecting that sensor is a probable cause. I would suggest taking it to a workshop. Considering the price of a new control unit and the labour, you are probably looking at around 1000€

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I appreciate the advice and will take it to a local workshop for further diagnosis and repair. Will post the resolution when available.

I had a similar issue on my Fiorino. The symptoms you describe sound very familiar. The lateral acceleration sensor is critical for electronic stability and traction control systems, much like a gyroscope in an aircraft. Has the yaw rate sensor been checked during the diagnostic scan?
