Fiorino Key Battery Low Warning

I'm having a weird problem with my 2012 Fiat Fiorino, gasoline engine. I keep getting a 'Key Battery Low' warning. Keyless entry doesn't work, and there's a key-related error stored. Unlocking and locking are unreliable. I think it's the key fob battery, but has anyone else seen this?

A 2012 Fiat Fiorino was experiencing a 'Key Battery Low' warning, causing unreliable keyless entry and a key-related error. The issue was suspected to be due to a low key fob battery. Replacing the battery with a new CR2032 resolved the problem, restoring keyless entry functionality and clearing the error.

Interesting. A dead key fob battery is common, but consider other things. Have you tried your spare key? If that works, it probably is the battery. Any signs of water damage or corrosion inside the key fob?

I haven't tried the spare, and I don't see water damage. Is there a specific battery type, and could a generic replacement cause problems? I'd rather do this myself than go to a shop if it's just the battery.

Replacing the battery is the right move. Fiat key fobs usually take a CR2032. A generic replacement should work, but get a good brand for best results. If the problem continues, you might need to visit a workshop for diagnostics and key reprogramming.

Just so you know, a new CR2032 battery in the key fob fixed it. Keyless entry works, and the error is gone. The battery was 37€.
