FJCruiser bumper antenna issue

I'm experiencing an odd issue with my 2019 Toyota FJCruiser (gasoline engine). At 163002 km, I'm getting an error related to the bumper antenna. Unlocking/locking doesn't work correctly, and the engine won't start without the key physically in the ignition. Could a defective cable or plug connection really be the culprit here?

That sounds suspiciously similar to what happened with my old BMW 3 series. The comfort access system went haywire, and it turned out to be a faulty antenna connection in the bumper. Does the FJCruiser have multiple antennas?

That's interesting. I hadn't considered multiple antennas. I'll have to look into that. Were your symptoms exactly the same, and did you eventually get to the root cause yourself?

Yep, pretty much the same. It started intermittently and gradually got worse. Honestly, I just took it to a shop. Diagnosing RF interference issues without the proper gear is a nightmare. In the end, they replaced the antenna module.

Thanks for the insight. I appreciate you sharing your experience. Following your suggestion, I visited a workshop, and it turned out to be a defective cable at the bumper antenna, as suspected. The repair cost was 95€.
