Fluence Camshaft Sensor Defective

My 2016 Renault Fluence with a gasoline engine is giving me major headaches. It's got 142808 km on the clock. Lately, starting the engine has become a real chore, like it's fighting me every step of the way. And when I finally get it going, the engine power feels seriously neutered. I scanned the error memory, and bam! Camshaft sensor defective. I've checked the obvious stuff, like looking for frayed wires or loose connections on the sensor plug, but everything seems visually okay. I suspect it might be a dodgy connection somewhere. Anyone else wrestled with this gremlin?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same thing happen on my Fluence (don't remember the year, sorry). Rough starts, felt like I was towing a boat anchor, you name it! I'd double-check all the connectors and wiring leading to that sensor. Sometimes it's not obvious to the eye. Is it intermittent?

Intermittent is the perfect word! Some days it's a total pain, other days it's just slightly annoying. Where exactly on your Fluence did you find the problem, if you remember? Was it the sensor itself, or further up the wiring loom? I'm trying to narrow this down!

It was driving me crazy! I poked around forever, but eventually I bit the bullet and took it to the workshop. They replaced the sensor and did some wire repair; total cost 95€. I'd say check the wiring thoroughly one last time, and if you can't find it, book her into the shop.

Thanks a million for the advice! I was hoping to avoid the workshop, but it sounds like I'm chasing ghosts here. I'll give the wiring one last go, and then she's off to the pros. At least now I have a good idea of what they're likely to find. Cheers!
