Fluence Rain Light Sensor Problems

Greetings! I also own a Renault Fluence, and I recall experiencing similar auto sensor issues. Did you by any chance inspect the gel pad of the rain-light sensor on the windshield? Sometimes bubbles form under it, which can interfere with the sensor's proper function.

Thanks for the quick reply! I hadn't considered the gel pad itself. How would bubbles forming under the gel pad cause all of these seemingly unrelated symptoms? It seems strange that one malfunctioning sensor could affect the speedometer dimming and headlight control as well.

The rain-light sensor communicates with the body control module (BCM), which manages various functions. A fault there may cascade through other systems. If the bubble theory doesn't pan out, take it to a workshop. Bubbles under the gel are known to cause a fault.

Thanks for confirming that the bubbles could be the cause. I inspected the gel pad, and sure enough, there were bubbles! I took it to the workshop, they replaced the gel pad and recalibrated the sensor. Total repair cost was 62€. Now everything works perfectly again!
