Fluence Spongy Brake Pedal

My 2013 Renault Fluence (gasoline engine, 121968 km) has low brake fluid and a spongy brake pedal. No warning light. Thinking worn brakes, but any ideas?

I've got a Fluence too. Did you check the master cylinder for leaks? I had something similar.

Good shout! I hadn't considered the master cylinder. What were the symptoms when yours went? Gradual, or sudden?

It was gradual. Pedal feel got worse over a couple of weeks, and I was constantly topping up the fluid. Cylinder was leaking internally. Get it checked by a professional; brakes are not something to mess with. Fluid replacement might be needed.

Thanks a bunch! I'll get it to a workshop. It was worn brakes which led to a master cylinder failure. Cost me 480€ to fix, but better safe than sorry!
