Fluence start stop issue

My 2009 Renault Fluence diesel's start-stop system is acting up. It stores an error, engine shuts off at lights, but then the warning light comes on. Mileage is 238631 km. Has anyone seen this before? I suspect battery issues, maybe heavily discharged or failing.

I had something similar with my Fluence. Does it struggle to restart after the auto shut-off, or does it crank normally? If it's slow to restart, it really points towards the battery. These systems are super sensitive to voltage drops.

Thanks for the quick reply! It restarts fine most of the time, but occasionally hesitates. Is it a simple battery replacement or something more involved, like a sensor?

Given the hesitation, and the fact that these systems are so integrated with the car's electronics, I'd advise getting it checked by a workshop with diagnostic tools. A new battery might fix it, but there could be other underlying issues causing the drain. Better safe than sorry, especially with modern systems.

Appreciate the insight. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. The battery was heavily discharged and failing. New battery fitted, total cost 290€. Start-stop working perfectly again. Thanks!
