Focus Camshaft Sensor Faulty Connection

My 2022 Ford Focus with a gasoline engine struggles to start, has reduced engine power, and shows a camshaft sensor error. I suspect a faulty connection in the cable or plug. Has anyone else encountered similar issues?

I had a similar ordeal with my old BMW 3 Series. The symptoms you describe—poor starting, power loss, and a sensor error—are strikingly familiar. In my case, it turned out to be a frayed wire near the camshaft position sensor. A proper diagnosis is crucial, though. What fault codes are you pulling?

Thanks! I'm pulling a P0340 code. Did your BMW also throw the same code, or something similar indicative of a camshaft sensor issue? Did you fix it yourself, or did you take it to a shop?

Ah, P0340, yes, that's definitely pointing toward the camshaft position sensor circuit. My BMW showed a related code for the same issue. Considering you've already noted potential issues with the wiring and connector, and given the potential for further engine misfire and timing issues if left unaddressed, I'd strongly advise taking it to a reputable workshop for a thorough inspection and repair. It could save you from more costly problems down the line. They'll be able to properly diagnose the integrity of the wiring, the sensor itself, and the ECU input.

Appreciate the advice! I took it to the shop, and as suspected, it was indeed a faulty camshaft sensor connection. The repair cost me around 95€. Thanks for confirming my suspicions and prompting me to get it checked out sooner.
