Focus Rear Window Heating Issue

Alright, I'm pulling my hair out here. My 2012 Ford Focus diesel, with 181465 km on the clock, has a rear window heating issue. The dashboard throws an error, and the windshield heating isn't working like it should. I'm guessing it could be related to a discharged battery, or something similar?

Dude, sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Focus. Is the error code specific? Does the rear defroster light up at all when you hit the button? And have you checked the heating coil itself for any obvious damage?

The error is pretty generic, just a general 'rear window heating malfunction' message. The defroster light does come on, but nothing happens. Where exactly should I be looking for the heating coil?

Okay, defroster light but no heat... hmmm. Yeah, I had the same thing. The heating coil is embedded in the glass itself, you can't really miss it, but you can't really test it either. Honestly, save yourself the headache and just take it to a workshop. It's probably a relay or something, but chasing electrical gremlins can be a nightmare. I ended up paying around 300€ for the fix, but at least it's sorted.

Cheers! I was hoping to avoid the workshop, but you're right, this sounds like more than I can handle. Booked it in; they reckon it's the battery, plus some wiring. Quoted me 290€. Thanks for the advice!
