Focus weak battery and flickering lights

Experiencing some weird issues with my 2010 Ford Focus diesel. It's got about 44k km on it. Lately, the battery seems weak when starting, and I've noticed the lights flicker sometimes, especially at idle. I checked the battery voltage, and it seems a bit low, even after driving for a while. I suspect the battery sensor might be defective. Has anyone else run into this?

I had something similar happen with my Ford Focus (not sure of the year, though). My lights were acting crazy, and the car struggled to start sometimes. Did you check the battery terminals for corrosion? That was my first thought, but it didn't fix the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, I cleaned the battery terminals already – they were pretty clean to begin with, actually. How did you end up resolving your issue? Was it definitely a sensor problem, and how did you diagnose it?

After cleaning the terminals didn't work, and the symptoms persisted, I took it to a workshop. They ran some tests and confirmed it was the battery sensor. Honestly, I'm not sure how they did it, but they told me it was faulty and not reading the battery's condition correctly. I'd suggest getting it checked out professionally to be sure.

Okay, thanks for the advice! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll take it to a workshop and have them diagnose the battery sensor. Just got the car back from the shop, and it was indeed the battery sensor, like we thought. Cost me 315€ to replace, but the car is running perfectly now!
