Ford B Max 2017: Malfunction of the ABS systems and power steering, possible defect in the steering angle sensor
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Ford B Max is experiencing issues with the ABS system and power steering, accompanied by a vibrating and wobbling steering wheel. The suspected cause is a faulty steering angle sensor. A similar case involved replacing and recalibrating the sensor, which resolved the problem. Another suggestion points to potential issues with the steering gear or electric motor, which could also cause these symptoms.

Hey, great, thanks for your quick reply! Do you happen to remember how much the repair cost back then? And have there been any further problems since then? I'm really curious to see how the whole thing develops... Thank you and best regards!

Hey, sure, no problem! If I remember correctly, the cost of fixing the "coding of the steering angle sensor faulty" problem was around €195. So, it wasn't exactly cheap, but everything has been running great ever since! The steering angle sensor fault was fixed by my mechanic and there have been no further problems since. So, all in all, it was a small investment, but well worth it! All the best for you and your Ford! Best regards!

Gosh, that doesn't sound too bad! Thanks for the info. I would have expected worse, to be honest...I'm somewhat reassured. I just hope my trip to the mechanic is a bit more pleasant this time. Wish me luck! Thanks a million and see you soon! Best regards!

Servus, It sounds to me as if you have a problem with the steering gear itself. I don't know exactly whether your car still has classic power steering or whether the whole thing runs via an electric motor. But the way it sounds to me, it's more likely the latter. If the electric motor or the sensor in the motor has a path, the symptoms you describe can also occur.

Ford B-max: problem pulling away to the left when braking. ABS has been read, no particulars. Light is not on. Left front brake checked seems Ok. Left wheel gets hot in center

It sounds like your left front brake might be dragging. This could be due to a few reasons such as a stuck caliper, collapsed brake hose, or even a problem with the ABS system. Start by checking the brake caliper and brake hose. If they're fine, you might need to have the ABS system inspected. Please remember, brake issues are safety-relevant, so it's recommended to have a mechanic check the issue. Let us know how it goes. Do you have any other questions?

Hello, I actually had a similar problem with my 2014 Ford B Max. My ABS systems were also out of order and the power steering didn't work at all. The fault was actually with the steering angle sensor - "steering angle sensor coding faulty". It was definitely not a small problem, the workshop had to put quite a lot of work into my car. The sensor had to be completely replaced and then recalibrated. Of course, it took me a few days to leave my car at the garage. But don't worry, it's solvable and afterwards your car will run like clockwork again. Good luck with that!
