Ford Edge Belt Handover Failure
Summary of the thread
The 2010 Ford Edge is experiencing a belt-handover failure, suspected to be due to a defective belt bringer/handover. A similar issue was resolved by addressing a faulty belt tensioner, which can also cause erratic engine performance. It is recommended to have a workshop diagnose the problem to confirm the cause and proceed with necessary repairs.

Thanks. When you had similar issues, was the belt tensioner the cause? What did you do to fix it?

Yes. The belt tensioner was the problem. Given the symptoms, I'd suggest a workshop visit. I was quoted 455€ and it was worth it.

Okay, thanks for the confirmation and the price idea. I'll get a workshop diagnostic.

I had a similar issue on my Ford Edge. Is the idler pulley showing any wear? Erratic engine performance can be from a faulty belt tensioner. Check also for timing belt issues.
