Ford Edge Overheating

Hi, I have a 2018 Ford Edge with a gasoline engine. Recently, the engine has been overheating, and the check engine light keeps turning on. The car has 88662 km on it. I checked the fan, and it doesn't seem to be spinning like it should. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra. Same symptoms – overheating and the light coming on. Turned out to be a defective speed sensor that messed with the radiator fan. Maybe check that?

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly is the speed sensor located, and is it something I could potentially check myself before taking it to a mechanic?

Honestly, on my Astra, it was a pain to get to, tucked away near the fan motor itself. If you're not super comfortable with car stuff, I'd say just get it checked at a workshop. Could save you some headaches. But yeah, could well be the speed sensor for the fan.

Thanks for the help! I took it to the workshop, and you were right. It was the speed sensor, and it cost 250€ to get it fixed. The fan is working properly again and there are no more overheating issues.
