Ford Edge Shaking Steering Wheel

My 2010 Ford Edge with a gasoline engine has a vibrating/shaking steering wheel and 'spongy' handling at 234456 km. Diagnostic scans show a steering system error. Sometimes the power steering seems to fail, requiring more effort. I suspect a defective cable or plug. Has anyone else had similar issues with their Edge?

Sounds like a potential pressure hose issue or low hydraulic fluid. Also, check the steering pump itself for any obvious leaks or damage. Is the fluid level where it should be?

Without proper diagnostic equipment, pinpointing the exact source is tricky. Given the error code and symptoms, and since you've checked the fluid, a workshop visit is probably the next best step. It could be a failing steering pump, but a proper diagnosis will save you time and money.

I saw a mechanic who found a defective connector in the steering system's electrical harness. Replacing the connector and wiring cost 95€. The power steering is now working. Thanks for the help.
