Ford Escape charge air temperature sensor error

I've got a 2009 Ford Escape with a gasoline engine that's throwing a charge air temperature sensor error. I'm getting a check engine light, reduced engine power, and a whistling/loud hissing noise when accelerating. The error is stored in the memory. I suspect it's a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone else seen this?

I had something similar happen on my Escape. Same whistling noise and loss of power. Did you check the air intake and the sensor itself for any obvious damage?

Yeah, I checked the sensor and intake, didn't find anything obvious. Was yours also related to the temperature sensor, and did you notice if the sound was louder when the engine was cold?

Yes, it was the temperature sensor. The hissing was indeed louder when the engine was cold. Honestly, I'd suggest getting it checked out by a workshop, could save you some time and headache.

Thanks for the insight! Turns out it was a faulty connection, just like I suspected. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the help!
