Ford F Anti-Theft Alarm Issue

I've got a 2008 Ford F diesel showing 94904 km with a persistent issue: the anti-theft alarm system. The error memory registers a fault, and the alarm system is non-functional. Diagnostics suggest it's erroneously coded to activate optical locking (indicators). Anyone else seen this?

Huh, sounds familiar! I have a Ford F, though I can't recall the exact year, and I had a similar headache with my security alarm. Was getting false alarms constantly. First thing, have you checked your battery? A weak battery can cause all sorts of weird electrical issues with these cars, especially with the alarm system. Also, have you had any work done on the central locking system recently?

Thanks! The battery seems fine. No recent work on the central locking system. Could you elaborate on the issues you experienced, and offer further insights into potential diagnostic avenues?

Alright, if the battery is good, and no recent work has been done, it does sound more like the coding issue you mentioned. My problem ended up being a faulty alarm control module, but if your diagnostic is pointing to the optical locking activation, it's likely a software glitch. Honestly, at that point, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop with the proper Ford diagnostic tools. They can recode the alarm system and hopefully sort it out.

I appreciate your guidance. I consulted with a certified Ford technician, and the diagnostic confirmed the alarm system's erroneous coding for optical locking. Reprogramming, costing 45€, fixed it. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
