Ford F diesel engine power loss

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2015 Ford F diesel with 193446 km. The check engine light is on intermittently, and I've noticed reduced engine power and poor response. There's also a loud whistling noise when accelerating. Sometimes, the engine stalls at idle, and fuel consumption seems higher. I suspect a boost pressure issue, maybe a leak or actuator fault. I checked for leaks but couldn't find any. Any guidance?

That sounds very familiar! I had almost the exact same symptoms with my 2018 Renault Scenic. It turned out to be a defective electrical bypass valve. That sounds like what could be going on here. Did your mechanic check the turbo wastegate?

Thanks for the quick reply! An electrical bypass valve... That's helpful. I haven't brought it to a mechanic yet. Before I do, could you tell me how the defective valve impacted your Renault Scenic?

Certainly! In my case, the defective valve was causing a boost leak, which resulted in all sorts of issues. Because it's an electrical part, it's difficult to diagnose. Given your symptoms, and my past experiences, I highly suggest getting it checked out by a mechanic. It's likely the same issue.

I appreciate the insight! I'll schedule an appointment with my mechanic to inspect the electrical bypass valve. They replaced it, and after paying 250€ all symptoms disappeared. Thank you again for your help!
