Ford F Electric Transmission Defect

I'm having serious transmission issues with my 2022 Ford F electric. It's got about 184019 km on it. Lately, the paddle shifters are totally unresponsive, and the gearbox is slipping like crazy. Sometimes it even makes a grinding noise when it finally decides to shift. The paddle shifters are super slow to respond, and yesterday the gearbox went into emergency mode and the check engine light came on. I scanned it and it had an error stored... Anyone have any ideas? Thinking it might be a defective transmission control unit?

That sounds rough! I had similar issues with my old 2015 BMW 3 Series, though it wasn't electric. The symptoms you're describing - the slipping, the grinding, the emergency mode - were almost identical to what I experienced. Did you notice any difference in performance leading up to this, or did it just happen suddenly? What error code did you get?

Thanks for the reply! It was sort of gradual, I guess. The shifting got a little rougher over a few weeks and the paddle shifters less responsive. As for the error code, I can't remember the exact number, but it pointed towards the transmission control unit, said something about 'malfunction'. Any thoughts?

Sounds like the same thing that happened to my BMW. I also kept driving it a little with the rough shifting, which probably didn't help. With the error code and symptoms you described, it really does sound like a faulty control unit. In my case, the dealer had to replace the whole unit. Best to take it to a workshop before something breaks completely. Good luck!

You were spot on. Took it to a shop, and they confirmed it's a defective transmission control unit. Quoted me 1000€ for the repair! Thanks so much for sharing your experience; it really helped me get a better understanding before heading to the shop.
