Ford FiveHundred Turbo Issues

I'm having trouble with my 2005 Ford FiveHundred with a gasoline engine. Check engine light is on, it jerks when accelerating, and there's a whistling and hissing sound, also when accelerating. It sometimes stalls when idling, and I'm getting worse fuel economy and less power. I think it might be the turbo boost pressure sensor, maybe a bad cable or plug. Any ideas?

That sounds rough. I had a similar thing happen with my old Opel Corsa, though it wasn't exactly the same. Check engine light, weird noises, power loss…turned out to be some kind of sensor issue messing with the turbo. Is the hissing constant, or only when the turbo is supposed to be kicking in?

The hissing is loudest when accelerating, especially when the turbo is working. Anything I should check myself before taking it to a mechanic?

Sounds even more like the sensor then. Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it too much myself if you're not super confident. On my Corsa, it got worse real quick, and I ended up paying more in the long run. Might be best to bite the bullet and get it checked out at a workshop.

I'm taking it to a mechanic. They found a faulty turbo boost pressure sensor and a bad cable connection. Repair will be about 95€.
