Ford Fusion 2012: Headlamp leveling malfunction and warning light in the speedometer

Hi guys, I have a problem with my 2012 Ford Fusion gasoline engine and could use your help. The car has 125,452km on it and is now showing strange symptoms. The lights are somehow set incorrectly, both low and high beams seem to be too high or too low. And there is also a warning light in the speedometer. I suspect that the headlamp leveling system has a fault. Have any of you had experience with similar problems and can tell me what to look out for when visiting a garage? Unfortunately, I didn't have such good experiences with my last mechanic. Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2015 Ford Mondeo. It was actually a serious problem. My headlight control unit was faulty and had to be replaced. During my last visit to the garage, we discovered this problem during the inspection. The control unit controls the headlights and headlight leveling, so it sounds like your problem, especially if you have a warning light. The great thing is that once the control unit was replaced, it was fixed and the headlights worked as normal again. Make sure you find a trustworthy garage and insist that they check the ECU. It's certainly annoying, but it's definitely important to address this immediately before night driving occurs. Safety comes first! Hope this helps you a little!

Hey, thanks for your quick reply. That sounds like the solution to my problem. Can you tell me how much the repair cost you? Did anything else happen afterwards with regard to the headlights or did replacing the control unit solve all your problems?

Hey, no problem, gladly! The repair cost me 630 euros to replace that damn control unit for the headlights. Not exactly a bargain, but what can you do when the part is defective. Since then, however, everything has been working perfectly, the headlamp leveling system is no longer faulty and the warning light has also disappeared. As far as I can tell, that was exactly what was needed. Of course, it's always annoying when something like this happens, but it's better to get it right once and then you'll be fine. Hope that helps you.

Hey, thanks for the information. That's really annoying, but what can you do. I'll start looking for a good garage in the next few days and pass on your feedback to them. A bit expensive, but you're right, better to get it right once and have peace of mind. I'll keep you posted here on how the repair goes. Thanks again for your help!
