Ford G6 Temperature Gauge Issues

My 2011 Ford G6 with a gasoline engine is acting up. The temperature gauge is all over the place, showing incorrect readings! The check engine light is on, and the engine takes forever to warm up. I'm suspecting the cooling grille is restricted. I've checked for blockages, but found nothing! Could it be a defective fuse related to the radiator grille? Anyone experience similar issues?

I had a similar issue with my G6, though I didn't experience the temperature gauge problem. I noticed that the engine was taking a very long time to reach its normal operating temperature, especially during colder months. It seems like the cooling system might be the culprit. The cooling grille might be blocked, preventing proper airflow to the radiator. I would advise you to have it checked at a workshop.

Thanks for the quick response! When you say cooling grille, do you mean the main radiator grille at the front, or is there another vent I should be inspecting? Also, did your check engine light come on as well? Trying to narrow down the possibilities.

Yes, I was referring to the main radiator grille at the front of the vehicle. I did not experience the check engine light coming on, but that might be due to a different issue. Given that you have multiple symptoms, I strongly recommend taking your G6 to a qualified mechanic. They will be able to properly diagnose the problem and determine if the cooling grille is indeed the cause. They'll also be able to check the fuse for the radiator fan, if there is one.

Took the G6 to the shop, and you were spot on! Turns out, the cooling grille motor was faulty, causing it to stay partially closed, hence the delayed warm-up and temperature weirdness. They replaced the motor for 52€, and she's running like a champ again. Thanks a million for the advice!
