Ford Ka Misfire Issue

My 2002 Ford Ka with a gasoline engine (46391 km) has combustion misfires causing rough running, check engine light, jerking when accelerating, and reduced power. I suspect a defective injector. Anyone else had this?

Hey, I had something similar with my Ford Ka. Check engine light, rough idle, and the car felt sluggish. Have you checked the fuel pump or maybe the ignition coil? Sometimes a faulty coil can cause misfires. Worth a look before diving into injectors.

When you experienced this 'sluggish' performance, did it manifest primarily under load, such as during acceleration, or was it pervasive even at idle? Did you observe any correlation between the ambient temperature and the severity of the symptoms?

It was definitely worse when accelerating, like the car was struggling. I didn't really notice any difference with the temperature, to be honest. I'd still get it checked at a workshop.

I went to my local mechanic. It was indeed a defective fuel injector, leading to the misfires. The replacement, labor included, was 515€. The Ka now purrs like a kitten again. Thanks!
