Ford Ranger Headlight Range Control Fault

Hi, I have a 2014 Ford Ranger with a diesel engine and 128933 km on the clock. I'm getting a headlight range control fault. The error is stored in the error memory, and there's a warning light on the speedometer. The low beams are shining way too low. Any ideas?

I had a similar issue with my Ranger. Does it have adaptive headlights? If so, it could be the servomotor in the headlight assembly. Have you checked the headlight switch and associated wiring?

Yes, it does have adaptive headlights. Where exactly is the servomotor located, and is there any way to test it before replacing it? I have checked the headlight switch, and I am getting the expected voltages.

The servomotor is integrated within the headlight unit itself, which makes it difficult to test without specialized equipment. Given that you've checked the headlight switch and the wiring seems fine, and since you have adaptive headlights with these symptoms, a defective servomotor is the most probable cause. I would recommend taking it to a workshop for proper diagnosis, as they will probably have the right tools to pinpoint the fault and address it adequately.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were right – it was the servomotor. Repair cost me 1040€ Appreciate the help!
